Have you always wanted to ride for transportation? Are you stumped at how to make it work? Think about the following:
*more than half of all car trips in the US are less than 2 miles from home
*riding for just 30 minutes 6 days a week can lower your risk of heart disease and stroke by 50%
*most people can integrate cycling into their everyday lives with just a few small changes
*the average commuter will lose 14 lbs during their first year of commuting regularly
*riding for transportation is good for your body, your community and the planet
It's easier than you think. Any bike will do. If you don't have a rear rack or panniers, you can start by using a backpack. It doesn't have to cost a lot, either. Thrift stores are great for finding forgotten treasures. I have found great bikes that would make wonderful errand bikes with a little TLC, backpacks that would be great for short errands and even a set of used panniers. Re-sale websites such as eBay and Craigslist can often be treasure troves for used bike merchandise.
