So that was unexpected...

The overnight tour didn't *quite* turn out like I thought it would.
I shall tell the story in fragments- with pictures and captions as needed.

started optimistic and excited!

20 mph headwind
saw my hubby on his mail route as we were riding through town

nice roads
rode some OKC trails I'd never ridden before

met some nice cyclists
rear brake rub
passed by the OKC Zoo (I love the Zoo)

found a quarter
brutal headwind
got Subway to go
rear rack bent/rubbing tire for miles
stop to eat lunch and fix/rig rack (needed tools we didn't have but managed)

brutal headwind
grass fire closes road

walk 1/8th mile down a gravel road to find out it doesn't meet a paved road for miles- so walk back
take a 7 mile, pretty hilly detour
brutal headwind
horrid traffic not giving me space
making progress and feeling good

rear rack breaks and is irreparable
duct tape rear rack to bike so wheel will spin- but can't ride because it's hitting the rear cog and won't stand any weight

walk 2.5 miles of gravel road uphill
run out of water
get severe sunburn
finally get to campground

not good- the campground is on fire and closed

fire trucks everywhere

call husband
get ride home

Not exactly what we planned.  Bright side:  we got in 50 miles in brutal, demoralizing headwind with bikes that weighed close to 70 lbs.  Good training day!  We'll do this again!!!
