ooo ooooo oooo- new saddle!

I got a new saddle.  A Brooks B18.  I can't wait to start the breaking in!!!  I will commute with it every day this week.  I'm waiting on a shim so I can use it on the commuter and the Bike Friday (the bike that will ride in Freewheel).  For the time being, I will ride the saddle on the commuter bike this week to work.  I'm SOOO excited.  I hope my butt is as excited as I am!
Here she is:
heh?  heh?  Pretty sweet, eh?  I conditioned it on Friday, and mounted it on the commuter.  I plan on taking her to the store or library today for a short errand run.  I'll be sure to ride her to work every day this week.  C'mon butt cheeks- break it in STAT!  Work your magic, gluteus maximus!

I like big butts and I can not lie
You other brothers can't deny
And when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist
And a round thing in your face
You get sprung
Wanna pull up tough
Cuz you noticed that butt was stuffed
Deep in the jeans she's wearing
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
Oh, baby I wanna get with ya
And take your picture
My homeboys tried to warn me

Yup- this baby's got back!

My garden is doing alright.  Had to cover it up on Thursday night with a blanket because the temperatures dropped to about 38.  I tucked them in nicely and told them everything was going to be OK.  I suppose they listened, because they seem to have made it through the frost OK.  No delicious fruits/veggies yet- but it's only been a few days.  Harvest time is about 45-70 days, so I've got some time to wait... and I hate to wait.

I'm thinking about getting a Brooks for my Jamis Aurora. I think I'll probably get the B17. The saddle on the Jamis isn't wide enough to make my sit bones happy and if they aren't happy... well you know. ;)

Did you buy locally or get it online?

P.S. I like the colors/layout of your blog. Nice and Spring-y.

I used to wonder who the heck would ever put a Brooks on their bike. They are like a board. Then I bought one used at a bike swap meet and I instantly loved it.
I bought it from Milwaukee Cycle.

It was half price. They have a couple B17's for half price. How could I *not* try one for half price? If all else failed, I knew I could sell it and make what I paid for it.
Good luck with the Brooks. Let me know what you think!!

And thanks- I'm always changing my blog- I get tired of it looking the same way all the time. ;)

Thanks for the link, unfortunately they don't have the saddle I'm wanting (at least as of right now), B17 aged. I can't decide if I should get the B17 for women or just the standard. Women's is a little wider (1/3rd inch) and shorter (1 1/2 inches). Did you go with the women's or did you have that option with the B18? A beautiful saddle btw.

Bummer! I like the aged saddles- they are super classy (and less to break in, so woo hoo)!! The B18 is a woman's saddle, so it's shorter and wider (both things that my butt appreciates).
I'm sliding around a lot on it, tho. I had it tilted down and I slid to the front. I tilted it up two more times and I'm still sliding to the front- even tho it's now just a bit above level. Maybe I need to mess with the forward/aft part.
Let me know if you find your saddle. That aged leather is gorgeous!!!
