Dadgum weather!!! Yesterday it was 70 and absolutely gorgeous. Today it's in the 30's and we have 6 inches of snow on the ground. This "wing" or "sprinter" if you will (spring + winter) is just ridiculous. On the first day of Spring we have snow- and it keeps on coming. It's insane... INSANE I tell you!
So to celebrate the first day of spring I did a 9 mile dreadful treadmill run, followed by a 6 minute bone rattling ice bath soak (to help with recovery) followed by a delightful 30 minute hot tub soak outside with the blowing flakes. It was glorious!!!
And I just vowed to myself that for the last 9 weeks of school I will commute to work every day in order to prepare for Freewheel. I guess my first couple commutes are going to be cold until this mess melts outside. It's so silly...
To protest this late winter blast, I'm going to drag my tired ol' stumps to the fridge, wrap my fingers around a Dos Equis and pretend that the white powder outside is really sand, and that the CFL bulbs in the living room are the sun's bright rays of glorious sunshine.
It's nice to live in my little world...
The organic eating is going well. I gained 2 lbs on vacation, yet I have NO idea how that happened. I ate REALLY well, stayed within my calories/portions and didn't overindulge in anything. I did have one ice cream cone, but that was all. It's a little frustrating, but nothing that I'm not used to. It's so much easier to control my food intake when I'm at home and know exactly what's going in my mouth. Even tho I ate seemingly well, I still wasn't certain about what I was eating. You just have to do your best when you can't control things. It'll all work out in the end. And if I don't lose any more weight, I''m going to be OK with that because I know that the food I'm putting in my body is good, whole food that is much healthier and better for me in the long run.

Hi Tri Girl, I know you from TE forum (SLash). I agree about this weather, it's crazy! Next week looks promising, we'll just have to cross our fingers and hope for the best. I'm impressed with your 9 mile treadmill run, but even more with your ice bath! YIKES! You're tough!
Anyway, just wanted to say hi and leave a comment. I started a blog a few months ago and have never had one, and occasionally it's nice to know we aren't just talking to ourselves - lol! Speaking of that, how do you add the comment reaction thingy to your posts?
Susan
Hi Susan!! Nice to see a fellow TE'er. :)
Ok- I was wrong- it was only 2.5 inches- just feels like 6. I swear, with the drifts it's much higher than even 6 inches.
I started the blog for my mom who always wants to know what I'm up to, and she doesn't even read it. ;) I like blogging, even if nobody is reading it. I used to keep a diary all the time when I was younger, and reading them now just makes me laugh. I guess this is my "modern diary."
I have NO idea how I added that comment reaction thingy at the bottom. I've tried to find it so I could remove it (I regret adding it now), but I can't find the darn thing ANYWHERE. Hmmm...
Here's to snow melting and to spring finally coming- and staying!!! ;)
See you on TE.
BTW, what is your blog address?
Hell hath no fury like a bike ride scorned... and I had sooooo wanted to ride this weekend! ARGH. Instead, I did a little thing to honor the first day of spring.. I spring cleaned.. sigh.. not as fun as riding but...I will be so happy when it's pretty outside and I am NOT doing spring cleaning.. LOL it's worth it!
That's the truth, Annie! ;)
Funny, I also kept a journal/diary when I was younger and every time I come across it I have to laugh. Hope my blog is better than that! I do it (blog) partly to keep in touch with folks (which is funny 'cause no one reads it - although my daughter was over today and she read it) but mainly I do it to keep my brain from turning to complete mush! I retired a couple of years ago, used to write a lot in my job, and the old adage about if you don't use it you lose it isn't just true about fitness. :)
I find though that I really enjoy it. Recording my thoughts, activities, etc. makes them stand out more, or something? Anyway, my blog address is: http://susanlash/blogspot.com
